A few of my friends have a slight problem going travelling with me. They want to shell out big money at fancy restaurants and on expensive experiences. I don’t share that desire. Personally, I find that when I am in a country, city, or region, for a period of time, there is always plenty to…
Four Things I Want to See in Malacca Malaysia!
This post is number 7 on West’s Bucket List. Enjoy! This city in Malaysia is one of culture and colour! If you were to look at the pictures of its red and pink buildings, you might think they were in somewhere like Cuba, and for good reason. Like Cuba, Malacca is something of a time…
How To Travel Iceland Cheap (From A Guy Who Couldn’t Afford To Go But Did Anyway).
I love Iceland. It’s one of those places you could visit one hundred times and still be awestruck. It’s a country full of truly wonderful and personable people with a laidback culture to boot. Moreover, the land itself is marked by roaring waterfalls, expansive ice blue glaciers, black sand beaches, and jagged volcanos. On the…

This post starts out with a story from my time in Serbia; however, if you want to shoot on down the page and just read about my top four reasons to visit the country, feel free! Anyway, here comes the tale: John Burns, with whom I find fleeting commonality because of his tee-total nature and…
Madagascar? Where even is that? 5 Reasons to go to a country nobody else does!
When I told my friends I was going to Madagascar for two months, most of them did a double take. “Not South-East Asia or South America?” They asked inquisitively. “Why would you even want to go there?” It’s a fair question. Everybody I know who did a gap year, pre or post uni, did the…

West, I really enjoyed reading through your blog. You are doing it right by getting started at a young age. I waited til middle age to begin to “avidly” see the world for the wonderful place that it is. And of course I waited until “advanced” age to write about it. Keep your feet moving and fingers dancing across your key board!

Thank you so much for the kind words! It’s never too late to start but I wish I had started earlier too though to be honest! C’est la vie I suppose!
I love the sentiment of this comment! Thank you for taking the time to write something so heartfelt.

I started when I was 5, because my parents traveled to live in another country. No travel to 12, then my dad brought me to my pen-pal in Germany. When I got married in Berlin, that’s when traveling really started. Not because I planned to, my my other half had this thing for missions, so we traveled all through Europe. Then I got the idea to study to psychology. The first year in Amsterdam was too bland, so I wanted to go to Los Angeles. We did, and stayed in that area for 30+ years, in different cities. In those years we went back to Eur. several times, to different countries, and also for a week to China, because our son has our traveling genes. I think I’m done now, and only travel in blog land, lol!

Great job West. They say traveling is the best education. My wife and I are recently retired and have traveled extensively. We’ve been married for six year now. We traveled before we were married. I’ve been been to over twenty five countries and my wife over forty. We started blogging last year (2019)I only wished we would’ve started sooner, we have so many stories to tell.
